In an exclusive interview with Yogonet, the head of the Spain-based firm’s three operations in Mexico —located in León Guanajuato, Querétaro, and Chihuahua, respectively— delved into the much-awaited reopening of gambling venues in the territory, the importance of operating under the brand name “Caliente” and about the safety protocols that the Group has put in place, both in Spain and Mexico.

"The adverse circumstances we are currently facing should help us rethink the way we used to do much of our daily work and how now, that must be different. This situation has no precedents whatsoever and we are heavily reliant on people’s own sense of responsibility in complying with the necessary health and safety measures, from the use of face-covering to social distancing," Hernández told Yogonet.

Discussing the reopening of the firm’s gaming venues and the COVID-19 prevention policies to be implemented, he explained: "We will implement one, unified safety protocol in all our three gaming venues, which will include all of the requirements requested by the government and everything else we were able to add to ensure we welcome our customers and employees to a safe and secure environment."

“We have adopted all of the health and safety recommendations from the WHO and the Mexican government so that our employees, customers, and suppliers feel safe at our gaming halls,” Hernández added.

“From Spain, we have brought all of the policies we could to be able to adapt to best practices. The guidelines that are being implemented worldwide are, broadly speaking, more or less the same: social-distancing, face-coverings, and hand sanitizers. However, we have also included a few more in our Mexico venues, such as measures aimed at reducing cashiers’ lines, at making sure patrons respect social distancing, independent accesses for entrance and exit, respectively, among others. We have adapted many of Spain’s guidelines because they have obviously had more experience, they are one month and a half ahead of Latin America and we want to take advantage of the knowledge they have acquired."

Hernández also said they had hoped to resume operations in June or July, but the reopening date had to be postponed several times. Even though no official dates have been set yet, the company expect to be authorized to reopen with many restrictions in place, in August, and that those restrictions are gradually lifted throughout the year.
