The coronavirus pandemic forced the Casino Esports Conference to be postponed from its original dates of June. This year's edition will include other rising technologies such as Virtual, Mixed and Augmented Reality.

Organizers of the Casino Esports Conference (CEC) 2020 in Las Vegas, which was scheduled to take place on June 16-18, confirmed Thursday new dates for this year’s edition, now to be held September 8-10, 2020.

“We have great hope that our current crisis will resolve sooner rather than later,” CEC organizers said in a release. “However, even should the world start back up tomorrow, we would all need some time to regroup before plunging back into business. Therefore, to add some certainty into the chaos, we are solidifying September 8-10 as the new date for the CEC.”

They also noted that some new habits will have developed from the current time of enforced isolation. “Your venue will need to know how to accommodate new attitudes and habits. Including esports and virtual entertainment in your business model will be more important than before. You will need to learn how to move forward into a different age,” they added.

In an exclusive interview with Yogonet earlier this month, Ari Fox, Executive Producer of CEC, said this year will see advancement from discussion of only esport and skill-based gaming, to include other rising technologies such as VR, MR and AR.

Among the highlights, the 2020 edition will feature:

  • Expanded educational tracks including investment, collegiate education, XR technology, hospitality, esports and more.
  • Tours of UNLV's newly opened innovating gaming lab, Black Fire. Black Fire is a technology hub where new gaming and hospitality concepts will be created and tested in a 43,000 square-foot innovation space that includes elements of mock hotel rooms, a casino floor and sportsbook, an esports studio, and virtual reality facilities.
  • CEC mixer this year will feature a holographic DJ provided by Holocryptics.
  • There will be a display of innovative laser tag technology by Battle Co.
  • The head of the UNLV Esports Team will be hosting a collegiate esports tournament in the HyperX Arena.
  • The exhibition floor will include many XR developers showing off cutting-edge technological attractions.
