Rhode Island Lottery data through the end of November show there has been some improvement in the amount of money the state is collecting from sports wagering as compare to the previous month
Overall, sportsbook revenue for the fiscal year 2020, which ends June 30, is just about $9.4 million, Turnto10 reports.
Rhode Island takes 51% of the overall revenue, so that means about $4.8 million for the state.
The figures include both casino sportsbooks and mobile online betting, and the number doesn't include wagers collected through December.
The dollar amount is much less than what was initially expected.
The 2020 fiscal year budget assumed the state would collect about $22 million by the end of June.
The state Department of Revenue has been scaling back expectations while working to make up the difference with adjustments.
State leaders point to mobile sports betting not being rolled out until September as a major factor.
