The Eastern Shawnee Tribe says they've reassessed Bordertown's place "in its broader business plans" and has decided to close the gaming hall in Northeast Oklahoma.
In a media release by Indigo Sky, Outpost & Bordertown Casino, they stated that there have been no future plans released for the facility. Some offerings will resume at Indigo Sky Casino. Current employees of Bordertown Casino and Arena will join the teams at Indigo Sky Casino or Outpost Casino, according to casino officials cited by Koam News Now.
The tribe opened Bordertown in 2003, and decided to build a larger casino with 80,000 square feet of gaming floor, bingo, table games, poker, gift shop, multiple food venues and a hotel with 117 total rooms. When Indigo Sky Casino opened in 2012, Bordertown Casino and Bingo closed, but reopened on April of 2015.
“Bordertown will continue to host bull events and great live entertainment through the end of November, after which guests can continue to enjoy free live music at ECHO Bar Thursday, Fridays, and Saturdays. Bingo is slated to close on December 15 after the second session and will resume high stakes play on December 18th at Indigo Sky Casino,” the company stated.
