William Hill US names Sharon Otterman as CMO

The sportsbook operator announced Monday the appointment of Sharon Otterman, an industry leader in marketing with deep experience working for prominent, best-in-class companies, as its new Chief Marketing Officer.

As sports betting continues to legalize across the United States, Otterman to lead traditional and digital marketing initiatives for the premier sportsbook.

"We are thrilled to welcome Sharon to our rapidly-expanding team at William Hill, particularly during such an exciting time in our growth process," said Joe Asher, Chief Executive Officer, William Hill US. "Sharon is a proven leader and we are thrilled that we could pull her away from one of the most high-profile jobs in sports marketing to join William Hill."

Otterman joins William Hill US from the Madison Square Garden Company, where she served as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, overseeing marketing for its diverse collection of iconic venues, legendary sports franchises, and the Christmas Spectacular, starring the Radio City Rockettes.

From 2009 to 2015, Otterman was Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at NBC Universal, where she developed and executed brand and marketing strategies for all MSNBC and NBC News shows, including the Today Show, Meet the Press, and Nightly News.

Prior to 2009, Otterman served as Vice President of Marketing at ESPN and other key appointments at advertising agencies driving digital transformation.

Following the landmark Supreme Court ruling that legalized sports betting in May 2018, William Hill opened two active sports books in the state of New Jersey -- at Monmouth Park Racetrack in Long Branch and Ocean Resort Casino in Atlantic City. Both locations offer the state's most diverse sports betting menu, which includes football, basketball, baseball, hockey, soccer, tennis and more.

Otterman received a Bachelor's degree in Corporate Communication from Ithaca College, and holds an Executive Master of Business Administration from New York University.
