The inaugural Sports Betting USA opened today at the Convene New York City. The two-day conference has been designed as a meeting and educational platform for the sports leagues, team owners and TV networks to learn how regulated sports betting could help their plummeting viewership numbers and to address the concerns around sports integrity.
Ewa Bakun, Head of Industry Insight & Engagement at Clarion Gaming, said, “We have been working with the key stakeholders for over two years now to identify the optimal timing for this event. Our analysis has proved accurate, in particular in the context of the Supreme Court taking up the NJ sports betting case, which came out after the launch and has substantially driven up the interest in attendance, both amongst gaming and sports organisations.”
The event creators, Clarion Gaming, confirmed the participation of representatives from leading associations including the Major League Soccer, Major League Baseball, National Basketball Association, the NFL and NBA Players Associations, and teams, such as NJ Devils and LA Dodgers.
“Sports Betting USA is bringing together gaming operators including land-based casinos, tribes, licensed sports books, both online and land-based from Nevada and the European markets, DFS operators, lawmakers, regulators and suppliers to discuss the path to legislation and routes to market, including interim strategies to create a footprint with sports driven customer now,” said Bakun.
With content geared towards both sports and gaming sectors, the event will discuss the legislative path to the repeal of PASPA; demystify misconceptions around sports integrity; outline data monetization strategies, fan engagement opportunities and new revenue streams for the rights holders, and present routes to a regulated market for the operators wishing to add this vertical to their offer.
