The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has delivered its report of the country’s gaming industry for the second quarter of 2017 with figures showing that the sector reported gross gaming revenue (GGR) of USD 759.4M, up by 14.5 percent from the prior-year period.

According to the data released by the office commanded by Andrea Domingo, nationwide casino GGR for the first half of 2017 was PHP75.92 billion, an increase of 15.7 percent in year-on-year terms.

This is the first such report that Pagcor discloses since November 2016 when it last reported the figures for the third quarter of 2016.

By comparison, the data released this week shows that junket-delivered revenue stood at PHP21.79 billion for the first half of 2017, accounting for a 28.7 percent of total casino GGR for the period. The majority of GGR generated by the casino junket segment was recorded in the private-sector casinos, rather than the Pagcor-run ones.

Meanwhile, non-junket GGR represented 38.3 percent of the total in the first half of 2017 with electronic gaming machines claiming a market share of 33 percent.
