What is the evaluation of this year?
G2E is very happy with the results for this year’s event. Attendance grew 5% and 82% of attendees said they were completely/very satisfied with the event. The show floor grew 17,000 square feet with record satisfaction; 83% of exhibitors said they were completely/very satisfied with the event. The Latin American program was again very successful with over 125 people at the Latin American reception in the lounge.
What were the main challenges that you had to face as an organizer of gaming events?
The main challenge in the US has been the economy. The recession had a big impact on the casino industry but the industry recovered in 2012 and 2013 looks like it will be a good year!
In your opinion, how have influenced the crisis that are experiencing some European countries and the situation in some Latin American markets in the attendance of international companies (either as exhibitors or visitors)?
G2E is very happy with the engagement of Latin American exhibiting companies and attendees. Last year Ortiz Gaming was new in 5,000 square feet and in 2013 FBM, Electrochance and Zitro are all new exhibitors each in over 1200 square feet. Also, in partnership with SAGSE, there was a Latin American Pavilion on the show floor. So the Latin American companies are not only engaged and participating at G2E but many of them are doing it in a big way. Also the Latin American program for attendees has been very successful with an increase in attendance over last year. The program includes free admission to the show floor, a Latin American Lounge and reception, and next year the New Technology Track in Conference will be in English and Spanish.
In your opinion, how should the events evolve to go with the industry changes?
In the US iGaming is the hottest topic and legislation is starting to change state by state. G2E will again have the iGaming Congress in Conference on Monday before the show opens and the iGaming Track on Tuesday and Wednesday. Last year many of the iGaming sessions were standing room only and we are looking for the same results next year. Also, we have the iGaming Zone on the show floor where attendees can explore products and services for this segment.
What are you preparing for 2013?
We are preparing to ensure G2E continues to be the largest most comprehensive show for the global casino industry. To ensure that not only core gaming is well represented but also add value to attendees with non-gaming companies on the show floor to include security, F&B, hospitality and entertainment. Also to retain the global leadership position with the largest and most comprehensive conference program with over 3,000 attendees and tracks in iGaming, Security, New Technology, Slots, Table Games, Advanced Gaming, Social Media, Basic courses for cross training, Casino Design, Law, Finance and Marketing.
