(Italy).- Lottomatica Group reports that the Rome Court of Appeal has rejected the appeal presented by the Amministrazione Autonoma dei Monopoli di Stato (AAMS) against the arbitration award of August 1, 2005 that ascertained the initial starting date for the Lotto Concession was June 8, 1998.

The same Court of Appeal, likewise, declared the petition ad adiuvandum presented by Stanley International Betting Limited in favor of the AAMS inadmissible.

In January 2005, Lottomatica Group, availing itself of the arbitration clause provided for in Article 30 of the Lotto Concession, filed a request for arbitration asking that the Board of Arbitrators ascertain and declare that the starting date of the Concession was June 8, 1998 and that, consequently, the final expiration date of the Lotto Concession was June 8, 2016.

The Board of Arbitrators unanimously accepted Lottomatica Group’s request by giving the award on August 1, 2005.
