Incomes of the Chilean casinos increased 126% in the first half of the year

(Chile).- Operational results for the first half of the year show that the gross gaming income increased a 126.1% compared with the same period in 2010, registering a total of 247,500,000 million dollar.

(Chile).- Operational results for the first half of the year show that the gross gaming income increased a 126.1% compared with the same period in 2010, registering a total of 247,500,000 million dollar.

The Casino Superintendent, Francisco Javier Leiva, released the operational results of the new industry during the first half of this year, informing that the 15 casinos in operation generated a gross gaming income (win) of us$ 247,500,000 and received 3,182,222 visits, which spent an average of us$ 80.75 each.

Besides, the 15 local councils and 10 regional governments have to receive a total of us$ 41,290,000 for specific gaming tax and the state us$ 17,760,000 of income tax. Operating societies also generated us$ 39,520,000 in VAT gaming concept.

Operational results of the semester show that gross gaming income grew a 126.1% compared to the same period in 2010, growing from us$ 109,420,000 to us$ 247,500,000 million.

Leiva pointed: “It can be explained because it has taken up again the growing trend that was interrupted last year, because 8 out of 15 casinos had to close temporarily due to the effects of the earthquake, observing that both the number of visits and the average expenditure keep their growing trend”.

Comparing the operational results of the first half of the year with the same period in 2010, it is observed that the average of daily visits increased a 42.9 % -from 820 to 1,172- and their average expenditure increased a 18.1% -from us$ 68.3 to us$ 80.75- which explains the growing rate of the gross income of the industry.

Of the total us$ 247,500,000 gross gaming income or win, Monticello Grand Casino represented the 28.2% (us$ 69,900,000), Marina del Sol 12,5% (us$ 31,020,000), Casino Rinconada 11,1% (us$ 27,430,000), Enjoy Antofagasta 10,1% (us$ 24,920,000), Dreams Temuco el 7,3% (us$ 17,990,000), Dreams Punta Arenas 5,5% (us$ 13,640,000), Casino Sol Calama 4,9% (us$ 12,130,000), Dreams Valdivia 4% (us$ 9,780,000), Antay Casino & Hotel 3,8% (us$ 9,480,000), Gran Casino de Talca 3,6% (us$ 8,970,000), Casino Sol Osorno 3% (us$ 7,390,000), Casino de Colchagua 2,3% (us$ 5,750,000), Casino de Juegos del Pacífico 2% (us$ 4,900,000), Casino Gran Los Ángeles 1,5% (us$ 3,700,000) and Termas de Chillán 0,2% (us$ 510,000).

Complying with the norm established by SCJ for games of chance machines of bringing jackpots of no less than the 85% of the bet in the total of combinations of possible plays, the 8,267 games of chance machine in operation delivered an average of 93.4% of return as jackpots for players- While the total amount bet is up to us$ 2,906,160,000, the games of chance win for the 15 new casinos was of us$ 190,900,000, which means that the jackpots won by players achieved a us$ 2,715,260,000.

Results of the industry during the first half of 2011 were released after the Superintendence validated the last monthly operational report of each casino, corresponding to June, a month in which a total of us$ 45,690,000 in gross gaming income was generated, us$ 7,620,000 in specific gaming tax, us$ 7,290,000 in VAT concept and us$ 3,100,000 in income tax. Besides, casinos received in June a total of 543,252 visits, which in average spent us$ 86.2.
