“The new WAP technology will allow the gaming offer of Chilean casinos to be even more attractive”

Grupo Dreams, belonging to Fisher Group, is the first operator in implementing this system for casino players in Temuco, Valdivia and Punta Arenas. The provider chosen was Atronic International, which has installed the WAP (Wide Area Progressive) of King Kong Cash.

What does the release of the first WAP system for Atronic’s King Kong Cash in Dreams Casinos represent for the Casino Superintendence?
For SCJ it is very satisfactorio that, ten days after we issues the new norm for the implementation of the system of progressive jackpots in the games of chance machine or WAP, the casinos Dreams Temuco, Valdivia and Punta Arenas completed their installation. This new technology will allow to make even more attractive the casino gaming offer in Chile and bring a step forward in the way to consolidate an industry in permanent development.

Why have you decided to issue this announcement?
Because the casino industry in Chile has experimented a sustainable growth in the last two years and because there are new technologies available that allow to complement and improve the quality of the service offered.
In this scenario, we issued the document that regulates the implementation of the system of progressive jackpots or WAP in the games of chance machine and that allows to interconnect different casinos of the new industry. 
Besides, we authorize the incorporation of progressive jackpots connecting tables of Draw Poker, Caribbean Poker and Go Poker in the same casino, so every player may perform an additional, voluntary and independent bet that allows the qualification of the payment of the accumulated jackpot.

In the case of WAP, through this announcement, SCJ defines and regulates the conditions for its operation, remarking, in one side, the demands for the installation and operation.  Besides, the rules to make the payments of the jackpots and the information they should provide to our entity.

Which is the advantage that the WAP system brings to operators and to the industry in general?
In an industry that is in a consolidation process and that during the first semestre of this year generated gross gaming incomes for us$ 109,420,000 and received 1,828,758 visits, the incorporation of new technologies such as WAP allows to offer better jackpots in the casinos that are interconnected, in order to do the gaming offer more attractive and for the healthy competence among operators.

As a regulatory and controlling entity, we will watch over the operators to use the WAP system to interconnect machines among its casinos to inform the public in a proper way on the number of games of chance machines connected and the amount of the progressive jackpot accumulated, as well as they continue bringing, at least a percentage of return as a reward to operators of no less than 85%.

Are there other providers and/or manufacturers interested in applying this system?
For the moment, just Dreams Group has implemented it, but it is probable that other operators are also interested in interconnecting machines of different casinos because it improves their offer.
