The us$ 9.2 billion complex, that is scheduled to open late next year, includes six high rises with a casino, luxury hotels, condominiums and retail.

Bill McBeath, president of Aria, the primary casino-hotel on the property, says the company plans to fill roughly half the spots with current employees from other MGM Mirage properties or others who have recently been laid off.

MGM Mirage officials say the company has let go of 3,200 employees in Las Vegas since October 2007 because of declining casino revenues.

McBeath says the company has been reaching out to those workers since June, formally asking those laid off to apply for jobs at CityCenter.
