Nevada: Eureka Resort-Casino in Mesquite unveils $100 million revamp project

Nevada's Eureka Resort-Casino in Mesquite has announced plans for a $100 million renovation and expansion project. The investment seeks to revitalize the employee-owned property near Interstate 15.

Executive Chairman Greg Lee revealed that the first phase of the project is already underway, with approximately $40 million allocated to refurbish the 212-room hotel and the 40,285-square-foot casino. 

Renovation efforts will extend from exterior enhancements to updates to the casino floor and renovation of hotel rooms and restaurant spaces. 

"This project represents an opportunity for us to reevaluate our property and ensure its relevance for the next several decades," stated Lee during an interview on Wednesday.

CEO Andre Carrier disclosed that renovation work has begun at Gregory's Mesquite Grill, with plans for completion by the summer. Other renovations are expected to be complete by late 2026 or early 2027. "We want to show the kind of imagination where people leave our property and say, ‘I would like my home to feel more like this," commented Carrier.

The second phase of the expansion, internally dubbed "Eureka 3.0," will focus on developing approximately 35 acres of land behind the casino. The company intends to construct retail outlets, resort condominiums, apartments, and workforce housing on a mesa overlooking the resort.

However, a timeline for this phase has yet to be established. Carrier said he expects to go through land entitlements and planning for the site during the phase one construction, reports Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Lee reflected on the evolution of Mesquite since the casino's opening in 1997, noting its transformation into a golfing destination and a hub for second homes. Eureka previously underwent a major renovation in 2004 and expanded into the New Hampshire market in 2019 with the acquisition of The Brook Casino.

Eureka Resort-Casino transitioned to employee ownership in 2015, becoming the only employee-owned casino in Nevada. Carrier emphasized that the renovation project is not only a financial investment but also an investment in the future of the company's employees.

"We have an obligation not just to the person who’s 10 years away from retirement and using those (employee stock ownership plan) shares, we also have an obligation to that person who’s 21 years old," stated Carrier.
