Boyd's Main Street Station to reopen September 8 after 15 months of shutdown

“We are counting the days until Sept. 8, when Boyd Gaming’s trifecta of Downtown Las Vegas properties will once again be fully open and ready to welcome our guests”, said Steve Thompson, Boyd Gaming’s executive vice president of operations.

It was the only Boyd's yet-to-reopen property along with Eastside Cannery, which still has no reopening date. The decision to reopen Main Street was made based on demand in general. The venue will reopen as a 24/7 property, with two restaurants operating within limited hours. The property was shut down in March 2020 due to the pandemic.

After 15 months of inactivity due to the coronavirus pandemic, Main Street Station will reopen in September. The downtown Las Vegas Casino and Hotel will return to round-the-clock operations at 6a.m. on the 8th, according to a news release from Boyd Gaming.

The venue will reopen as a 24/7 property, though its two restaurants will operate on limited hours. Triple 7 Restaurant and Microbrewery will be open from 5 p.m. until midnight Thursday through Monday. Garden Court buffet will open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily for brunch, and from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday for dinner.

“We are thrilled to announce the reopening of Main Street Station and to welcome back our team members and guests who have been eagerly awaiting our return,” Steve Thompson, Boyd Gaming’s executive vice president of operations, said in a statement. “We are counting the days until Sept. 8, when Boyd Gaming’s trifecta of Downtown Las Vegas properties – California, Fremont and Main  Street Station – will once again be fully open and ready to welcome our guests.”

Boyd executives have previously said demand would dictate the timeline for both of its yet-to-reopen properties, Main Street and Eastside Cannery. The decision to reopen Main Street was made based on demand in general, rather than a specific customer base, as reported by Las Vegas Review-Journal.

“Main Street’s future is all about downtown business and the Hawaiian business returning, and Eastside will just depend on volumes,” Boyd President and CEO Keith Smith said on a July 27 earnings call.

Recent reports from the Nevada Gaming Control Board show downtown making a strong comeback. Part of that comeback has been driven by the new addition of the Circa Resort & Casino Las Vegas — one of Main Street Station’s closest neighbors.

Main Street Station has more than 400 hotel rooms and a 27,000-square-foot casino. It has been closed since Gov. Steve Sisolak ordered casinos temporarily closed in mid-March to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

Sisolak allowed casinos to start reopening on June 4, 2020, and while most Las Vegas resorts are operating again, a handful remain shuttered.
