ldquo;I wish to emphasise that the police have not received information on such allegation, either from the Federation of International Association (FIFA), The Asian Football Confederation (AFC), or any other sources.

“The Royal Malaysian Police is a member of the Football Association Malaysia integrity committee, a committee set up to tackle corruption and match-fixing.

“We have taken active measures to maintain integrity in the sport, and we will continue to do so,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

Khalid added that police would welcome information that shows the sports industry has been tainted, but stressed that such information must be credible and supported by tangible proof

Chris Eaton, an independent advisor on sports integrity, at a forum on match-fixing organised by the Global Lottery Monitoring System in Singapore Monday, said Malaysia has overtaken Singapore as the new match-fixing hub in Southeast Asia.

Eaton said Singapore had managed to break up some football match-fixing syndicates, although he added some remained working in “close association” with syndicates in Malaysia. The GLMS was set up last year by 27 lottery operators to monitor match-fixing around the world.
