DraftKings has moved to accelerate its UK expansion of players with the acquisition of the player database of free-play DFS platform TransferKings.

The deal will allow TransferKings players in the UK to make the transition from free play to a cash game with prizes.

DraftKings opened for business earlier this year in the UK with a focus on Premier League and Champions League games. It currently reckons it has 7 million DFS players worldwide with 300,000 playing daily games across the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, Major League Soccer, and Liga MX.

“We want to expand our audience in the United Kingdom, and this is an effective way to reach an even larger group of passionate fantasy football fans,” said Jeffrey Haas, Chief International Officer of DraftKings. “As the leader in daily fantasy sports in the UK today, we are thrilled to welcome TransferKings’ players to the big time.”

TransferKings players will be able to play DraftKings games via its website and mobile apps, and play in any game in any of the sports currently offered on the platform.

Hemant Maini, co-founder and chief executive officer of TransferKings added: “We have built a large base of fantasy football fans and are excited to offer them the opportunity to expand their passion for football and other sports by joining the DraftKings platform.”
