Uruguay registered a record collection in casinos

(Uruguay).- The Casino National Direction obtained a record net collection of 223 million dollar, according to information recently released by the Government. This number, the biggest in its history, enables to allocate to General Income Tax around us$ 80 million.

According to the law, 11% of the collection will be allocated to entities benefiting from the state casino incomes (Sodre, Ministry of Tourism, Commission of Historical and Cultural Heritage, INDA and the Uruguayan Olympic Committee).

Casino Director, Javier Cha, indicated that both the gaming venues improved considerably their management in 2011. The National Casino Direction has 32 betting venues distributed in the whole country.

When the 2011 report was released, Cha assured that it is a priority to improve other aspects of the management, as well as to stimulate the development of investments through the mixed system.

According to the Government website, the government is studying an important number of projects to be performed, precisely, the change of state casinos to a mixed system with prívate capitals.
