The football world has been rocked by a number of match-fixing scandals in recent years and Blatter is determined to put an to end to these practices.

"Match-fixing shakes the very foundations of sport, namely fair play, respect and discipline. That's why FIFA employs a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to any infringement of these values," Blatter said in a press conference in March.

Fifa has been monitoring betting markets related to organized competitions since 2004 with the help of 'Early Warning System GmbH', and the company is now also used to observe betting patterns in a number of club competitions.
