The implementation of the norm will no doubt be controversial, because the casino managers think that part of their customers will stop visiting their venues. The anti-tobacco law was voted at the end of April in Monaco National Parliament, includes the prohibition to smoke in “closed and covered public places or that constitute a working place”, from November 1st.

Monaco had not officially penalized smoking in bars and restaurants yet, although several venues are already applying the norm.

A speaker of the Tobacco Leasing Company, cited by the newspaper Monaco-Matin, estimates that the application of the anti-tobacco law must include a 6% discount in prescriptions.
