The Payment Expert Summit will return as part of SBC Summit Rio in March, 2026, addressing the growing dominance of Brazil’s PIX instant payments system and rising regulatory demands around anti-money laundering (AML), know-your-customer (KYC) and onboarding requirements.
The summit will take place from March 3–5 at the Riocentro in Rio de Janeiro, at a time when Brazil’s payments ecosystem is undergoing rapid change following tighter regulation and widespread adoption of PIX. Organisers said the event is aimed at helping operators, payment service providers, banks, fintechs and compliance specialists adapt their payment infrastructures to the evolving market.
“After the launch of last year's Payment Expert Summit, we're seeing Brazil's payment landscape evolve quickly. In its first year, the focus was on getting regulation right. Now, operators are looking for practical guidance on how to adapt, strengthen their systems, and keep pace with the market's growth,” said Rasmus Sojmark, founder and chief executive of SBC.
"With payment rules evolving and PIX now dominating how Brazilians transact, this summit gives operators and payment and compliance professionals across the entire ecosystem a clear space to connect and discuss how these changes affect their payment offering," he added.
The Payment Expert Summit will feature a dedicated show floor bringing together Brazilian and international payment, compliance and fraud prevention suppliers.
Exhibitors include Belvo, EfiBank, Fiserv, Legitimuz, OneKey Payments, Paag, SEON, Sumsub, PayRetailers, Trio Payments, and Unico, among others.
Alongside the exhibition, the summit will host a focused conference programme addressing key challenges such as integrating PIX, meeting stricter AML and KYC standards, strengthening fraud detection and balancing regulatory compliance with a smooth user experience in Brazil’s newly regulated market.
The conference track will open with a session led by Brazil’s Financial Intelligence Unit, COAF, featuring Ricardo Saadi, director of investigation and combating organised crime at the Brazilian Federal Police and president of COAF. Saadi is expected to outline AML and financial intelligence requirements for operators and payment providers under Brazil’s regulatory framework.
Other panels will examine practical issues, including compliant PIX integration, building local partnerships for market entry, tackling money laundering risks, and using open banking to improve payments while strengthening security and consumer protection.
The Payment Expert Summit is one of five dedicated tracks at SBC Summit Rio, alongside leadership, affiliation, technology innovation, and marketing, as organisers seek to provide market-specific guidance to companies operating or entering Brazil.
