The Michigan Gaming Control Board (MGCB) has ordered eight online casinos to stop operating in the state, citing illegal internet gambling.
The casinos targeted with cease-and-desist letters are Aussie Play, CryptoGames, FortuneJack, Hugewin Casino, My Stake Casino, Play at Harry’s Casino, RuneChat, and Slots Garden.
“These unauthorized websites often appear sophisticated and legitimate, but they operate outside of Michigan law,” said Henry Williams, MGCB Executive Director. “When players gamble on unlicensed platforms, they’re putting their money and personal information at serious risk.”
Michigan’s internet gaming and sports betting industries are strictly limited to operators licensed and monitored by the MGCB. Any site that offers gambling without state approval violates several laws, including the Lawful Internet Gaming Act, the Michigan Gaming Control and Revenue Act, and portions of the Michigan Penal Code.
The MGCB has ordered all eight named entities to immediately stop accepting wagers from players located in Michigan. “The MGCB will not hesitate to intervene when we find operators ignoring our state’s gambling laws,” said Williams.
The MGCB is working with the Michigan Department of Attorney General to enforce the law. Repeat violations could bring further legal action.
“Every illegal site that operates here undermines the integrity of the legal market and puts consumers at risk,” Williams said. “Our message remains consistent: If you want to do business in Michigan’s gaming industry, you must play by the rules and obtain a license.”
