The seventh edition of the annual Scandinavian & Nordic Gaming Show 2025 (SNGS 2025) kicks off in Sweden in about six weeks, set to take place on 23–24 October at the Nacka Hotel, Stockholm.

The event will bring together regulators, operators, and innovators from across Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, and beyond for discussions, insights, and networking.

The Nordic gaming market is evolving rapidly, with new regulations, licensing reforms, and emerging technologies reshaping the landscape. SNGS 2025 gives attendees the chance to explore market opportunities, learn from industry leaders, and connect with key decision-makers.

Peter-Paul de Goeii, Managing Consultant at Quod Bonum and Chairperson of SNGS 2025, described the region as “maturing fast,” with consumer protection and channelisation set to dominate the coming years.

He noted that Sweden is considering further restrictions, Denmark is refining its approach, Finland is moving toward licensing, and Norway could see a change to its monopoly model, depending on the outcome of the upcoming election.

“The real transformation is in how regulators balance strict controls with maintaining high channelisation,” he said. “That will define success or failure."

Sustainability and responsible gaming also remain top priorities. De Goeii said that the Nordics are ahead of many other regions in demanding transparency, monitoring player behaviour, and enforcing strict marketing standards. He expects greater harmonisation across markets, more data-driven monitoring, and an increased focus on early intervention, stressing that operators who invest in these areas will safeguard their licences.

Looking internationally, de Goeii advised operators to “think global, act local.” He said scaling beyond the Nordics requires respecting local regulations. “There is no one-size-fits-all,” de Goeii said. “My advice: build compliance into the core business model, not as an afterthought. Invest in legal expertise, engage with policy makers, politicians and regulators early, and prioritise reputation over short-term growth," he added.

For him, SNGS serves as more than just a regional gathering. The event acts as a “lighthouse for the entire European online gaming arena,” fostering dialogue between regulators, operators, and experts and setting the benchmark for high standards.

Professionals attending SNGS 2025 can expect a clear, unfiltered view of where Nordic regulation and innovation are heading. As chairperson, de Goeii is particularly looking forward to facilitating open discussions and reconnecting with industry colleagues.

He also paid tribute to former Chair Jan Feuerhake, acknowledging the high standard he set for the event. “The highlight will be seeing the Nordic community continue to lead the way in shaping sustainable, transparent, and competitive markets," he added.
