Youth protection in gaming will take center stage at the IMGL Autumn Conference in Lisbon, September 16–18, 2025, where industry leaders and regulators will debate when responsible gaming (RG) education should begin and how digital platforms, parents, and policymakers can play a role.
On September 17, Alfredo Lazcano, chair of the Mexican law firm Lazcano Sámano, will moderate a session titled “RG-basics for the Youth.” The panel will consider whether problem gambling education should start in childhood, adolescence, or young adulthood, as well as who should design and validate prevention programs.
The discussion will also cover the differences between regulated and unlicensed markets, how parents can be engaged in prevention efforts, and the accountability of search engines, online advertising, and social media platforms in the context of gaming and gambling.
Panelists include Jesús Mariano Acevedo, president of Lotería de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, Argentina; Rasmus Kjaergaard, CEO of Mindway AI, Denmark; Tracy Parker, vice president of policy, standards, and accreditation at the Responsible Gambling Council, Canada; and Bill Pascrell III, partner at Princeton Public Affairs Group, United States.
Organizers said Lazcano’s participation also brings Latin America into the conversation on gambling-related risks for younger generations in the digital environment.
The Lisbon event is organized by the International Masters of Gaming Law (IMGL). The annual gathering brings together regulators, attorneys, and industry stakeholders to examine legal and regulatory challenges across the global gaming sector.
Attendees will also have access to sessions on regulatory change, market developments, emerging technologies, and cross-border challenges. The conference program includes main stage talks, roundtables, and networking opportunities, alongside cultural and business experiences in Lisbon.
