Casino Guru and WinSpirit have concluded the SmartPlay Social Media campaign, an initiative focused on raising awareness of responsible gambling (RG) and engaging players in safer play.
Casino Guru provided expertise on responsible gambling and player behavior, while WinSpirit leveraged its community knowledge to lead the social media effort. The campaign demonstrated how operators and independent authorities can collaborate to promote player protection.
A survey conducted at the start of the campaign revealed that while 63% of WinSpirit players understood the main purpose of Responsible Gambling, 46% were unclear on the finer details. To address this, six interactive posts were released, educating players on identifying “red flags” and “green flags,” debunking common myths, and promoting the idea of gambling as a form of entertainment rather than profit-making.
"Player protection is an integral part of the gambling industry’s development,” said Šimon Vincze, Head of Sustainable & Safer Gambling at Casino Guru. “Effective communication will resonate positively with players, and proactive initiatives not only reduce harm but also deliver commercial benefits for operators.”
The campaign also highlighted that strategies must be tailored to different players. For example, 56% found WinSpirit’s email reminders effective in supporting safer gambling.
The initiative concluded with a self-check activity, encouraging players to reflect on their habits and make informed decisions, aligning with Casino Guru’s mission to empower responsible play.
