The Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban) published the results of the Febraban Observatory Survey, which included, among other things, questions about what Brazilians think about gambling.

Of the total, 50% of respondents consider that online gambling has a 'very negative' impact on family finances. 31% rated the effect as 'negative', while 4% said they saw a 'positive' impact, and another 2% said it was 'very positive'.

Furthermore, 59% of respondents indicated that they had not been adversely affected and did not know anyone who had been financially harmed by gambling. The percentage of people who have been seriously harmed by this activity (or know someone who has) is 22%.

According to the survey, 15% were negatively affected by gambling (or know someone who has been), but not seriously. 'This negative perception extends to all segments and regions. However, negative experiences with serious losses were more frequent among young people aged 18 to 24 (34%)', the study stated.

Meanwhile, 40% of Brazilians admitted to having little knowledge of financial education, and 15% said they did not understand anything about the matter.

The survey was conducted between June 12 and 26, 2025, by the Institute for Social, Political, and Economic Research (IPESPE) on behalf of Febraban, with a total of 3,000 respondents aged 18 and above. The complete data is available online.
