Las Vegas Sands has deepened its long-running partnership with The WASH Foundation, committing $515,000 to support water, sanitation and hygiene initiatives that aid vulnerable populations around the world.

The donation, announced June 26, marks the latest investment under Sands Cares, the company’s corporate responsibility program, and brings Sands’ total contributions to The WASH Foundation to over $6.1 million since 2014.

The new funding backs a trio of priorities outlined by The WASH Foundation, which include providing essential hygiene kits to individuals in crisis, driving innovative local water solutions in Sands’ operating regions, and helping expand the foundation’s educational and community outreach on hygiene.

The WASH Foundation works globally to improve health and quality of life for the 4.2 billion people who lack reliable access to safe water, sanitation, or hygiene resources.

Sands’ support for The WASH Foundation is anchored in a history that began with the first Sands Cares Global Hygiene Kit Build in 2014. Over the years, the collaboration has grown to include projects like transforming a Las Vegas recycling center into a soap production hub and launching the city’s first mobile shower unit for people experiencing homelessness.

That effort later developed into the Fresh Start WASH & Wellness Program, which now operates six mobile shower units across Nevada, California, and Florida, facilitating more than 91,000 showers.

“Through every evolution of our partnership, Sands has rallied behind us with funding and Team Member volunteer support, and contributed to the development of several impactful programs that have complemented and enhanced our organization’s efforts,” said Shawn Seipler, founder and CEO of Clean the World Global and chairman of The WASH Foundation board.

“Sands has always understood our larger vision – we are improving health, strengthening quality of life, and responding to people in crisis through universal WASH access.”

This year’s Sands Cares funding will help underwrite a new round of global hygiene kit builds in Macao, Singapore, and Las Vegas, where Sands employees will assemble 70,000 kits to be distributed by The WASH Foundation. Since the start of the partnership, Sands’ team-driven events have produced more than one million kits for individuals facing hardship.

The contribution also continues support for the Drop by Drop Project, a joint effort between Sands and The WASH Foundation to fund water stewardship initiatives led by nonprofits in Macao and Singapore. These projects focus on enhancing local water resilience, protecting ecosystems, piloting new water solutions, and engaging communities.

A portion of the donation will further be allocated to bolster The WASH Foundation’s operational capacity, helping the organization expand its school and community outreach and respond to natural disasters with critical hygiene assistance.

Sands began its relationship with The WASH Foundation’s strategic partner, Clean the World, in 2011 by collecting and recycling unused guest hygiene amenities from its resorts. Since then, the collaboration has diverted over 663,000 pounds of waste from landfills and distributed 4.7 million bars of soap to communities in need.

Our partnership with The WASH Foundation touches each pillar of our People, Communities and Planet corporate responsibility platform by engaging our Team Members in meaningful volunteer work, delivering resources to people facing hardships and crises in our communities, and promoting environmental advocacy through water stewardship initiatives,” said Ron Reese, senior vice president of global communications and corporate affairs at Sands.
