The 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) kicked off Tuesday in Las Vegas, marking the start of a seven-week festival featuring a record 100 bracelet events and attracting thousands of players from around the world.
The tournament will run through July 16 at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas, the fourth consecutive year that the WSOP takes place in the heart of the Strip. The event is set to offer poker enthusiasts a mix of high-stakes drama and opportunities for players of all levels, professionals and amateurs alike, according to a statement.
The series opens with the $1,000 Mystery Millions event, which will award two guaranteed $1 million prizes—one to the tournament winner and another via a randomly drawn bounty.
Among the notable high-stakes contests in the first week are the $25,000 Heads-Up No-Limit Hold’em Championship, the $10,000 Mystery Bounty No-Limit Hold’em, and the $25,000 High Roller PLO/NLH Mix.
The marquee Main Event begins on July 2 and will feature four Day 1 flights, with the final table to be played over two days, July 15 and 16. Last year’s Main Event broke records with 10,112 entrants and a $94 million prize pool after fees.
This year’s WSOP is the first under new ownership after NSUS Group Inc., the parent company of GGPoker, acquired the WSOP brand from Caesars Entertainment in a $500 million deal. Caesars will continue hosting the event at its Las Vegas casinos for the next 20 years under the terms of the sale.
The WSOP remains a global draw for both seasoned professionals and amateur players, with events spanning various buy-ins and formats.
