In recent years, SOFTSWISS has emerged as a significant player in the Latin American iGaming market, with a strategic emphasis on Brazil. The company has leveraged its global expertise to cement its position in this rapidly evolving landscape, seeking to tap into the growth opportunities it provides, especially as Brazil positions itself as a major hub for the online sector.

In a detailed discussion with Yogonet following the recently held SBC Summit Rio, Dario Leiman, Regional Business Development Manager at SOFTSWISS, elaborates on the company’s development in the region, the significance of the Brazilian market, and the standout products that cater to operators within Brazil.

SOFTSWISS has grown to become one of the most prominent companies in the market. What can you tell us about the region, and how important is the Brazilian market for SOFTSWISS?

SOFTSWISS has strategically positioned itself in the Latin American iGaming market, with a significant focus on Brazil. Leveraging our global expertise, we aim to unlock new opportunities while ensuring compliance and driving innovation in this evolving landscape. Brazil is emerging as a pivotal hub for iGaming, and SOFTSWISS is committed to fostering growth within the region.

The recent SBC Summit Rio highlighted key trends such as gamification, mobile optimization, seamless payment services, and robust Know Your Customer practices, all of which are crucial for success in Brazil’s dynamic iGaming market. Mergers and acquisitions also play a vital role, enabling faster growth and access to new technologies. The Brazilian market holds substantial importance for SOFTSWISS as we continue to expand our presence in Latin America.

Which of the company's products are the most sought-after by operators with a presence in Brazil?

When it comes to operators with a presence in Brazil, two key products from SOFTSWISS stand out. The Game Aggregator is a powerful solution that allows operators to integrate gaming content seamlessly, bringing together more than 250 casino game studios and offering over 20,000 mobile-friendly games via a single API integration. This extensive game library ensures a diverse and engaging experience for players in the Brazilian market.

Additionally, the Jackpot Aggregator is a revolutionary software solution designed to enhance the player experience by enabling iGaming brands to set up customised jackpot campaigns tailored to their audience. By offering exciting jackpot opportunities, operators can attract and retain players, making it a sought-after feature in Brazil and beyond. These two products empower operators to create compelling gaming platforms and engage players effectively in the Brazilian iGaming landscape.

What is your assessment of the company's participation in the recent edition of BiS SiGMA America 2024?

With great pleasure, I reflect on SOFTSWISS’ remarkable presence at BiS SiGMA Americas 2024. As a leading software provider in the iGaming industry, SOFTSWISS consistently pushes boundaries, innovates, and shapes the digital entertainment landscape. The LatAm market remains a focal point, and we are committed to expanding our footprint in Brazil and beyond

We announced the appointment of Rubens Barrichello as a Non-Executive Director in Latin America, a strategic step for our regional expansion. Additionally, SOFTSWISS was well-represented during the conference, with my colleague Victor Sekushenko, Head of Sales at SOFTSWISS Sportsbook, contributing valuable insights to the panel discussion "Unlocking Player Loyalty: The Impact of Gamification in Brazil's Newly Regulated Betting Sector."

How did Rubens Barrichello's presentation at the fair in Sao Paulo impact the audience? What key points did he emphasize about SOFTSWISS' approach to the LatAm market?

Rubens Barrichello’s presentation at the fair in Sao Paulo was highly impactful and well-received. He emphasized the importance of teamwork and trust, drawing parallels between SOFTSWISS' commitment to the LatAm market and the collaboration seen in racing. Barrichello highlighted the company’s dedication to building partnerships with local operators, regulators, and affiliates, fostering alliances based on mutual trust and shared objectives.

Additionally, Barrichello outlined SOFTSWISS’ strategic roadmap, which includes localised solutions, responsible gaming practices, and advanced technology. His passionate delivery conveyed that success in the iGaming sector is a collective effort, much like a relay race, and he left the audience inspired.

How do you expect this market to evolve in the regulatory framework, and which other jurisdictions on the way to legalize their online gaming are in the company's sights for the rest of the year in Latin America?

I appreciate your interest in the Brazilian iGaming market and its regulatory developments. Brazil is set for transformative changes with the new regulatory framework ratified by President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on 30 December 2023. The comprehensive framework includes a 12% tax on gross gaming revenue, with a portion allocated to sports development. It permits fixed-odds bets and mandates five-year licences, allowing companies to operate up to three different brands.

Player protection is a priority, requiring operators to offer self-exclusion options and verify identities using facial recognition technology. We anticipate that regulatory guidelines from the Ministry of Finance will be published soon, and with over 130 businesses interested in licences, a regulated market should be operational by the second half of 2024.

Beyond Brazil, other Latin American jurisdictions are also evolving. Colombia, with its well-established regulatory framework, continues to attract operators due to its clear rules and growing player base. Peru is actively working on its iGaming legislation, and we are closely monitoring these developments. Argentina presents a diverse landscape, with provinces like Buenos Aires having already legalized online gambling, while others are exploring options. Mexico’s online gaming market is expanding, and ongoing regulatory discussions make it a significant area of interest for operators.

SOFTSWISS recognizes the immense potential across Latin America. Our strategy extends beyond Brazil to include Argentina. In Colombia, our existing presence positions us well for further growth. Mexico is another key market where we are actively exploring opportunities and partnerships. In Peru, as regulations evolve, we are prepared to engage and contribute to the market’s development.

Overall, Brazil’s regulatory framework marks a pivotal moment for the region, and we are committed to navigating this exciting journey. Our goal is to empower operators, enhance player experiences, and support the vibrant iGaming ecosystem across Latin America.
