Las Vegas' The Mirage welcomes back nightly volcano attraction this Friday

The free volcano show at The Mirage is set to make a return this Friday, following a temporary hiatus, resort officials revealed on Wednesday. According to the resort, the iconic Strip-side attraction will once again captivate audiences with its display nightly, running every hour from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The volcano underwent a brief closure throughout most of February to accommodate a fan activation organized by Paramount Global during Super Bowl week. During this period, a stage took the place of the resort's lagoon, and the volcano itself was rebuilt to resemble a mountain.

Resort guests and Las Vegas visitors alike have eagerly anticipated the revival of this display, known for its fiery eruptions and performances. However, plans loom for the transformation of The Mirage property.

Hard Rock International, operator of The Mirage, has unveiled plans to erect a towering 660-foot guitar-shaped hotel in the very location currently occupied by the volcano. This transformation will mark the evolution of The Mirage into a flagship property under the Hard Rock brand.

As the resort prepares for this transition, representatives have remained tight-lipped regarding a definitive closing date for the beloved volcano show. 

Hard Rock agreed to purchase The Mirage from MGM Resorts for more than $1 billion in 2021. The Mirage, built by Steve Wynn for nearly $700 million, opened in late 1989. It was the first of the megaresorts that would come to dominate the Strip.
