Pennsylvania's Mount Airy Casino Resort announced Tuesday that, as of December 18, the facility will only be open to adults ages 21 and older on the entire property. The new policy will include all hotel rooms, restaurants, spa and pool area, in addition to its casino floor and bar.

Lisa DeNaples, Mount Airy owner and managing trustee, said that the decision was made after “careful consideration," and based on feedback from the Resort’s patrons, catering to "the increasing demand we are seeing for exceptional amenities and outstanding personal service.”

“By offering an adults-only environment, we intend to serve as the premier escape for those seeking an elevated lifestyle that includes high-end experiences and luxury accommodations,” she added.

Chris Barrett, president and CEO of the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau, also commented: “This decision makes perfect sense based on Mount Airy’s prestigious brand and the resort’s long history of providing an exemplary adult-only experience.”

There are many kid-friendly properties located throughout the Poconos and we’re more than happy to assist families in finding those wonderful opportunities for their upcoming visit," he further noted.

Hassan Abdel-Moneim, VP of Resort Operations, said: “When you think about the greater area, you know the Poconos is a resort destination. There are many properties to cater to the family, we have water parks, we have all those things.”

And then you have our property, which is the state-of-the-art adult playground. With a golf course, spa, a pool that’s designed for adults,” he noted, and added that the plan has been in consideration for years.

It’s not about the elimination of minors. We are also looking at what other services we can offer to really focus on your core guest. We feel that just allowing this to be what we concentrate on, the more people will come as a result. We’re looking forward to what the next year holds for us,” he concluded.
