New York: Seneca Resorts and Casinos cuts 150 positions
The Seneca Gaming Corporation announced that, due to an ongoing slowdown in business caused by the novel coronavirus, the company has eliminated 150 positions across operations.
SGC said it is working to place affected employees in open positions within the company, WKBW reports.
"The challenges presented by the pandemic, notably the closure of our three Seneca Resorts & Casinos properties for 90 days, have been dramatic. While we have begun the initial stages of our phased reopening, the pandemic has unfortunately not made it possible to restore all areas of our operations to date," SGC said in a statement.
The Seneca Gaming Corporation operates casinos in Buffalo, Niagara Falls, and Salamanca. The Niagara Falls and Salamanca operations also feature an adjoining hotel and events center.
The gaming corporation began reopening casinos on July 1 with slot machines, limited table games, and reduced hours.
