Nevada regulators will hold a public workshop to consider regulation amendments

The activity scheduled for March 3 in Las Vegas will seek comments for possible amendments to Nevada Gaming Commission regulations 1, 4, and 5. Among the proposed changes, these would update the nonrefundable application fee amounts for the first time since June 1985; and modify gaming employee registration definitions.

The Nevada Gaming Control Board will hold a workshop on March 3 at its offices in Las Vegas to receive public input on proposed amendments to Nevada Gaming Commission (NGC) regulations 1, 4, and 5 regarding the definition of “registration” as a defined term, application fees, gaming employees, armed security personnel, and independent hosts.

Interested persons will be afforded the opportunity to present statements, arguments or contentions in writing, with or without the opportunity to present them orally. Written comments should be submitted prior to March 2 at 5:00 p.m. Comments should be submitted to the Executive Secretary via e-mail at [email protected].

As for regulation 1 regarding “registration” as a defined term, the purpose is to update its definition, and to take any additional action that may be necessary in that sense.

Furthermore, proposed amendments to regulation 4 aim to update the nonrefundable application fee amounts for the first time since June of 1985.

Consideration and recommendation of proposed amendments to regulation 5 comprise gaming employees, armed security personnel, and independent hosts. The purpose is to add, delete, and modify gaming employee registration definitions; to modify which gaming employees are eligible for temporary registration, and the suspension and reinstatement of temporary registration of gaming employees as well.

The workshop will also analyze modifications of the criteria for objection to gaming employee registrations, and licensee duties with regard to gaming employee registration. It will also seek to create required policies and procedures regarding armed security personnel; to modify change of employment notice requirements; to update requirements regarding the Board’s system of records; to create the process for temporary suspension of a gaming employee registration; to modify requirements concerning a petition for hearing to reconsider an objection, suspension, or revocation of a gaming employee registration; and to modify reporting requirements regarding independent hosts.
