During a press conference, Olga Sánchez Cordero, head of the Mexican Secretariat for Home Affairs, said that the appointment of Cota Montaño will be made official in March.

Politician Leonel Cota Montaño will take over the role of director-general of Juegos y SorteosMexico’s gambling authority— as of March, according to Olga Sánchez Cordero, head of the Mexican Secretariat for Home Affairs (Segob in Spanish).

"Juegos y Sorteos issues the necessary permits for the development of gambling and betting events authorized by law and oversees that the relevant terms and conditions are rightfully met. I am sure that Mr. Leonel Cota Montaño is the right person to take over this role due to his wide experience in the field," Sánchez Cordero said.

"Thanks to Leonel Cota Montaño's experience, I am sure our agency Juegos y Sorteos will function in a very smooth manner, Sánchez Cordero concluded.
