BoyleSports has entered the British market through the acquisition of Wilf Gilbert, which operates betting shops throughout the English Midlands, Black Country and Coventry. Both newspapers said the financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
The firm is seeking to take advantage of the upheaval in the high-street bookmaker as a result of curbs on fixed-odds betting terminals, which is set to reduce the profitability of betting shops, the Irish Times reports. BoyleSports has never operated such terminals, which are banned in Ireland.
