The agenda will include a pre-event on May 28, with a drinks reception, followed by LatAm Hall of Fame Recognition Awards. Next, the panel “What to do when it’s not all black and white: Introducing regulation in a sustainable way” will have Jose Ortiz, President, Conajzar (Paraguay); and Luiz Felipe Maia, Founding Partner, FYMSA Advogados. Susan O’Leary is a lawyer who has represented some of the world’s leading eGambling operators and gambling service providers including many of Alderney’s licensees. She will be one of the speakers in the same panel, which will discuss the pros and cons of varying approaches to regulating online gaming globally.
According to O’Leary, what operators and providers require from a jurisdiction is a strong pragmatic regulator who understands the commercial environment, a resilient technical infrastructure, a favorable tax system, excellent support services and a fees system that allows businesses to grow.
Country Roundtables will gather regulators from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Paraguay, Puerto Rico and Uruguay. By the end of the first day, speakeasy reception will be sponsored by Merkur, and the DRGT rum and gin tasting bar will be in the afternoon.
The content on day two is a practical how-to guide for operators starting out in the online space. Sessions include: "Setting up shop in the online space – the basics for new operators"; "Affiliate 101 – What are they? How do they work? And, more specifically, how do they work for you?"; and "Staying safe in the murky world of cybercrime". Then, “All American” themed reception will be sponsored by Novomatic, and the “Grand View Party: Día de los Muertos” will be another opportunity for networking.
Day three is geared towards the needs of international operators branching out into LatAm. The discussions will present demographics and strategic partnerships with Lorenzo Caci from Sportradar, banking and financial inclusion with Andrew Zarnett from Deutsche Bank, and asking what more regulators could do to encourage international investment. The event will close with different kinds of tours around Miami.
