Dominique Desseigne, president of the Barrière Group, confirmed to the French newspaper Le Figaro that the former president of France and current member of the Board of Directors of the Accor hotel chain, Nicolas Sarkozy, will join the Board of Directors of his company.
Sarkozy joined Accor in 2017, after the defeat in the primary elections of his party in 2016. His future in this company will be defined in the general assembly scheduled for April 30, which will be asked to decide on the renewal of his term of office.
"With Accor, he has shown that he likes the hospitality industry, whose stakes are global," Desseigne said. "It is a great opportunity for us to benefit from his skills, his extraordinary knowledge of international strategic issues and his energy," he added. Barrière owns Fouquet's restaurant, 17 luxury hotels and 33 casinos.
The head of the Barrière group has entrusted his son Alexandre (32 years) new responsibilities on the executive committee, appointing him general manager of the hotel and restaurant, in addition to leading the transformation of the group, Le Figaro also said.
