This week, Yogonet had the pleasure of interviewing Mr. Eduardo Aching, Vice President of International Sales at Konami Gaming, who delved into the operator's latest portfolio, the impact Konami generated at ICE 2018, and his views on the future of the company.

What was the highlight of ICE 2018?

Progressive bonus game developments were the biggest highlight of Konami’s ICE 2018 display, including the original linked bonus game Smash Smash Festival. Instead of traditional metering progressive prizes, this fiesta-themed game progresses the number of available prizes in the jackpot pool with each mystery-trigger selection until a player is awarded the Smash Time bonus to redeem all prizes in the central pot. Smash Smash Festival combines with most any KP3+ base games on Concerto upright and Slant. It is even compatible for SeleXion multi-game.

Cai Lai Si Ji, Celestial Sun Riches, and Celestial Moon Riches also helped demonstrate a number of original game play mechanics. Cai Lai Si Ji is a 4-level standalone progressive that has seen strong success across international markets with its pick ‘em feature and 5-figure Mega jackpot. The latest series release is called Power of Riches, featured at ICE on Concerto upright and Slant. It was shown directly beside Celestial Sun Riches and Celestial Moon Riches. These are the debut games for Konami’s new Strike Zone feature, which allows players to select increasing Strike Zone areas for additional bonus opportunities by increasing their extra bet amount. Every wild eclipse symbol that lands in the Strike Zone transforms to a random 2x or 3x multiplier and each sun or moon symbol awards a wheel bonus if the free game feature is triggered.

Additional progressive games featured at ICE included Castlevania, Lucky O’Leary Jackpots, and Luxury Jackpots, to name a few.

Where were most operators from? Did you notice a greater attendance of any country in particular?

The majority of the operators that visited us came from the several countries in Europe, although we also had several customers from Latin America, Caribbean, North America, Asia, Australia, and Africa.

What product experienced highest sales growth rates in the last year? What were its main causes? Do you think this positive trend will continue in 2018?

Our greatest international sales growth was represented by Concerto SeleXion multi-game, driven by a strong library of new KP3+ base game and progressive game releases from Smash Smash Festival to Dragon’s Law Twin Fever. We expect continued growth for Concerto SeleXion through its recent expansion to our curved Crescent cabinet. Backed by proven reliability and leading change speed, Konami’s multi-game technology continues to empower operators with a versatile solution to feature the latest fun entertainment.

There are several brand-new events focused on the gambling industry in Latin America. What trade shows are you going to sponsor next?

Our next major event in Latin America is the 2018 Peru Gaming Show. We’re looking forward to meeting up with our customers from across the region, learning about their needs for the market, and sharing our newest game technology.
