June figures were released on Monday summarizing tax revenue paid by casinos in Columbus, Cincinnati, Cleveland and Toledo.
Since the first casino was opened back in 2012, the tax money collected totalized $1,054,983,129, the report indicated. Ohio casinos are taxed at a rate of 33 percent on Gross Casino Revenue with the state then disbursing the money to several funds.
51 percent of the share, accounting for $538 million, went to Ohio cities and counties. Another 34 percent, or $358.7, went to Ohio schools.
The four casino host cities received a total of $52.7 million, 5 percent of total revenue. Another 3 percent, or $31.6 million, went to the commission for administration and operation of the state agency and the Ohio State Racing Commission also received $31.6 million.
A state problem gambling fund and law enforcement fund each received $21 million, 3 percent of the total over the five-year period.
Tax distributions for the second quarter of the year fell to $65.3 million from $71.2 million in the first quarter.
