Paddy Power has confirmed that Gary McGann has taken over as chairman of the business, replacing Nigel Northridge who stood down at the end of June.

The Irish bookmaker announced in May that Northridge was to exit the role he had held since January 2009. Northridge departs the role having first joined the company in July 2003 as a non-executive director.

McGann, who joined the bookmaker in November last year as a non-executive director, will now become chairman of the business.

Speaking at the time of the original announcement in May, Northridge said it had been a “pleasure” to serve on the Paddy Power board for 11 years.

“The group has made great strides in that time due in no small part to the endeavour and commitment of my board colleagues and of management, present and past, for which I thank them,” Northridge added.
