"Boyd Gaming has been a valued partner of the university for decades," said UNLV President Len Jessup. "We are grateful and appreciative of the investments the company has made in our institution over the years. Their support of the Hotel College will further elevate the program and help attract students who will become future leaders of the industry."
The Company will partner with UNLV to help build a new state-of-the art academic building. Boyd Gaming's latest commitment continues a long track record of support for southern Nevada's largest institution of higher learning. The Company and its senior executives have contributed to numerous university initiatives over the last 40 years, including a $30 million personal donation by Executive Chairman Bill Boyd to found the William S. Boyd School of Law at UNLV. Additionally, the home stadium of UNLV's football team is named after Company co-founder Sam Boyd, a prominent example of Boyd Gaming's long-standing support of UNLV Athletics.
"We believe that a strong and vibrant university is essential to a world-class community, and that's why Boyd Gaming is committed to supporting the growth and success of UNLV," said Keith Smith, President and Chief Executive Officer of Boyd Gaming. "We see the Hotel College project as an outstanding opportunity to continue our track record of support, and to help UNLV further strengthen its reputation as one of the world's leading hospitality programs."
