(UK).- The UK's Gambling Commission watchdog has announced the appointment of three ‘specialists’ in Mark Stanford, Charlotte Meller and Andrew Chapple. The trio will work to support the development of the Commission's ‘expertise in-house’ while also helping to strengthen its ‘relationships with other regulators and law enforcement agencies’.

Stanford, a Detective Constable for the Metropolitan Police, joins the Gambling Commission on a two-year secondment and is set to work closely with its Sports Betting Intelligence Unit and enforcement team to assist ‘across a range of criminal investigations’.

For her part, Meller is a specialist in shared regulation leading on gambling matters and was previously Policy Team Leader at LG Regulation. She has joined the Gambling Commission on a fixed-term contract and will work to support the establishment of the Local Authority Liaison Unit.

Finally, Chapple is a former executive at William Hill and the Tote and has joined the Gambling Commission in order to provide specialist support on a range of projects including its money laundering compliance regime.

“We are delighted that Mark, Charlotte and Andrew have joined us,” said Nick Tofiluk, Regulation Director for the Gambling Commission. “Their arrival demonstrates our ongoing commitment to strengthen relationships with other regulators and agencies while at the same time developing the specialist knowledge within the Commission.”
