Magic (Earvin) Johnson dominated the court for 12 years as one of America’s best basketball players. He was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers in 1979 and played until 1991, earning three NBA Final MVP awards and winning the NBA Championship two times. During his career, he was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame, the College Basketball Hall of Fame, and named one of the 50 greatest players in NBA history.
Just as he had dominated the courts, Johnson became a powerful force in business. He created Magic Johnson Enterprises, which has a variety of holdings. Much of his efforts have focused on developing urban areas, bringing Starbucks coffee franchises and movie theaters into underserved communities. He has written four books: Magic; Magic’s Touch; My Life; and 32 Ways to be a Champion in Business. He also co-authored a book with Larry Bird titled When the Game Was Ours.
Johnson will speak at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 7 during the Systems User Conference dinner reception.
“Magic Johnson is an inspiration to all of us for his prowess on the basketball court; the optimistic and healthy way he lives his life; his devotion to charitable causes; and his business acumen,” said Dan Savage, Bally’s Vice President of Corporate Marketing. “The way he has positively addressed the challenges he has faced in life should be motivational to us all.”
Bally Technologies expects that more than 400 customers will attend this year’s two-day Systems User Conference, which is highlighted by expert speakers, amazing discussion, valuable insight, hands-on training, and numerous opportunities to network with peers, gaming-solution providers, and Bally technology experts.
The theme of this year’s conference, “Be A Player”, invites attendees to experience the innovation as a casino patron would and participate in live server-based tournaments and promotions powered by Bally’s trailblazing technology solutions.
