At the same time, it seeks to amend the Law on Value Added Tax (VAT) and exempting cruises from paying certain taxes when they provide services to foreign visitors without address or residence in Chile, as applied to hotel companies today.
In addition, this amendment wants to enable tourist ships to recover the VAT on the purchase of goods for the supply, lubricants, fuels, among others, in regions I, XI, XII and XV. It is estimated that this package will have a fiscal cost of about $ 300 million (approximately US$ 615,000).
The bill proposes to amend the Casino Act 19,995 to allow the opening of casinos in domestic and foreign ships and to establish them as tax free, which will produce no tax cost, because today there are no gaming rooms operating in national boats.
