"This will be the most luxurious and exciting Grand Final in LAPT history," said LAPT President David Carrion. "LAPT is thrilled to be partnered with City Center, one of most amazing casino venues in all of Latin America."
City Center, the largest casino in South America, will offer LAPT players all of the comforts of a modern, five-star hotel. It is located in the charming metropolis of Rosario, the third-largest city in Argentina, less than 200 miles northwest of Buenos Aires. Rosario is easily accessible by air from all points within Argentina and internationally from Brazil and Uruguay.
Qualifier satellites and freeroll tournaments that award travel packages to Rosario and entry into the Grand Final are already running on PokerStars.net. More information on the LAPT Argentina Grand Final will be available shortly at http://www.lapt.com/.
Last week, LAPT also organized the Brazil poker festival, from August 4-8, at the beautiful Costao de Santinho Resort in Florianopolis, Brazil. In addition to the us$ 2,700 Main Event, the LAPT Brazil festival featured multiple side events, notably a us$ 120 rebuy event with a us$ 45,000 guaranteed prize pool and the first Pot-Limit Omaha event in LAPT history. Players from 24 nationalities hit the felts to form a field of 364 runners, for the us$ 2,845 Main Event.
"We are committed to continuing to develop the market and to helping the game grow," said Carrion before the beginning of the Brazilian event. "We believe the side-event schedule we have put together – including the first PLO tournament ever held at an LAPT festival – is the next logical step in that direction."
Team PokerStars Pros that attended at LAPT Brazil included Victor Ramdin and Joe Cada, the reigning world champion. Play kicked off on August 4 with two us$ 300 super satellites into the Main Event. Side events run concurrently with the Main Event from August 5 through August 8.
The prize pool was us$ 915,000. 48 places got paid, and first prize took home us$ 247.554. Matthias Habernig, a 19-year-old from Klagenfurt, Austria, travelling through South American on vacation, has won the newest Latin American Poker Tour title in Florianopolis.
