Gaming officials in Missouri have released casino revenue figures for October and the us$ 145.4 million won represents an increase of 11.1 %. The increase was fueled by two major markets, Kansas City and St. Louis. Revenue increase by over 7 % in Kansas City and over 14 % in St. Louis.
The state of Indiana had a similar fate. The Indiana Gaming Commission released figures of us$ 234.3 million in October. That was an increase of 4.3 %. Chicagoland is the biggest market in the state, and revenue jumped 3.5 % there.
"The Midwest has quietly been sneaking up on the major gambling states in the US in recent years," said Gaming Analyst Steve Schwartz, "The revenue figures in Missouri and Indiana show just how far casinos in the Midwest have come."
While the Midwest casinos have enjoyed a couple of good months, the major casino gambling destinations in the country continue to struggle. Las Vegas and Atlantic City casinos have both reported revenue declines for October, although AC casino revenue did not fall as far as it had been in previous months.
