253 players battled for a prize pool of almost us$ 2 million in last year's event which was eventually won by Casper Hansen.
The action then heads to Northern Cyprus for a us$ 10,000 + us$ 300 event at the Merit Hotel from September 6-12. The European leg of the 2009 Tour kicks off with the inaugural WPT Venice at the Casino Di Venezia from May 6-10.
This year will also see the first major poker event held on African soil with the WPT Marrakech scheduled for October.
