Prairie Band Casino and Resort, located in Mayetta, Kansas, is set to open its Sportsbook for the general public later this month. The tribal casino has scheduled the official opening of the new betting area for 1 PM on January 19th, with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony being held in the hotel lobby.

The amenity becomes the first locally-owned sportsbook in Kansas. “We’re thrilled to launch the only locally-owned sportsbook in Kansas!” expressed Sportsbook Manager Kyle Sipe. “Our first-class betting product combined with premier resort amenities will provide guests an unparalleled sports betting experience.”

The new sports betting section features 10 betting kiosks where patrons can place bets on their favorite sports teams. Additionally, the area is equipped with multiple televisions and provides food and beverage options.

At a launch event last Thursday, Zeke Rupnick, Chairperson of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation, made the inaugural bet, placing $20 on the University of Kansas (KU) Jayhawks to win the National Championship, citing confidence in KU's prowess and a family connection. This symbolic act marked the commencement of sports wagering at the resort.

The betting kiosks will be accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week, offering continuous service to guests and visitors of the casino. Check out the sportsbook's operating hours below.
