By the end of 2018, we expect to have 17 licensed online operators in Colombia, based on the growing interest of the private sector in the market," said Pérez Hidalgo.
In addition, the president of Coljuegos remarked the importance of playing via the authorized websites, which provides both Colombians and foreign citizens greater safety when placing their bets, as well as prize payment guarantees, a proper and safe management of personal and financial information, and problem gambling control through the implementation of individual limits. He also explained that they still rely on the aid of the Cybernetic Center of the National Police and the Ministry of Information Technology and Communications to manage the blocking of unauthorized websites and thus promote the incorporation of a larger number of legal operators.
"Online gambling regulations in Colombia allows those who meet the established financial, technical and legal requirements to enter the industry. Sportium Apuestas Colombia S.A.S. is a subsidiary of Sportium Apuestas Deportivas S.A., a Spanish company with 10 years of experience in sports betting which, in 2016, started its globalization in Latin America, with operations in Panama and in 2017 decided to arrive in Colombia, "explained Pérez Hidalgo.
In accordance with the latest statistics updated to February 2018, there is a total of 442,998 players registered in the different authorized online operators, of which 93.8% (415,512) correspond to active players.
