US social networking platform developer Evolve Labs is entering the eSports vertical, announcing the launch of its new BlackFlag online arena focused on League of Legends action, where five-member teams pay USD 5 to compete for cash prizes.

Evolve Labs CEO Adam Sellke said this week that the BlackFlag project had been in planning for some time, but had recently been fast tracked, motivated by public demand for a competitive gaming service.

The popular League of Legends attracts more than 67 million unique users who play in over 30 million Legends competitions annually, Sellke said.
