US-based Derby Games is to expand its online pari-mutuel horse racing games offering into the Canadian market through a new partnership with horse racing operator Woodbine Entertainment Group (WEG).

Under the multi-year deal, punters in Canada will gain access to online horse racing games that feature WEG’s thoroughbred and standardbred live cards.

The agreement will mark the first time that online gaming firm Derby Games will offer its services to players outside of the US market. Derby Games is due to launch in Ontario towards the third quarter of this year and will operate through WEG’s Canadian licensing and approvals.

The service will also be accessible through the official Derby Games mobile application. Tom Hessert, chief executive officer and co-founder of Derby Games, said: “We're thrilled to be taking our games to the Canadian market, where online wagering on horse racing has a unique position.

“The interest in expanding horse racing online is global and our entry into Canada provides a launching pad for continued expansion into new markets,” he added.
